Is Mitt Romney capable to become president without questioning his faith?

I'm posing this question because of the many opinions I've read in the internet with regards to his faith. Many consider him to be highly qualified but change their minds when they found out he is a Mormon. Why is that so? I believe he is a man of integrity and this virtue is important when choosing a leader of a country.
